Who served as Yves Saint Laurent's long-time muse and accessory designer?
Answer
Loulou de la Falaise
Answer
Loulou de la Falaise
Loulou de la Falaise served as Yves Saint Laurent’s long-time muse and accessory designer.
Born Louise Vava Lucia Henriette Le Bailly de La Falaise in 1947, she joined Saint Laurent’s circle in the early 1970s after working in fashion and publishing. At his house, she became closely associated with jewelry, hats, and other accessories, bringing an exuberant, bohemian sensibility to the collections. Her work helped make accessories an expressive part of the Saint Laurent look rather than a mere finishing touch.
De la Falaise is often grouped with other important Saint Laurent muses, especially Betty Catroux, but their roles were not identical. Catroux was renowned as a model and style icon, while de la Falaise was also a creative collaborator and accessory designer. She remained one of the defining personalities of the house until Saint Laurent’s retirement from couture in 2002.
