Who served as Victoria’s Secret’s chief executive from 2006 to 2016?

The story behind the answer

Sharen Jester Turney served as Victoria’s Secret’s chief executive from 2006 to 2016.

Turney became chief executive of Victoria’s Secret in 2006 after holding senior roles within the company. Her tenure covered the Victoria’s Secret lingerie, beauty, and direct-marketing businesses during a period when the brand had substantial influence in fashion retail.

She left the chief executive position in 2016. Leslie Wexner, then chief executive of the parent company L Brands, subsequently took over leadership of the Victoria’s Secret business on an interim basis before other executives assumed the role.

Turney is sometimes confused with Wexner because both led the business during its L Brands era. Martin Waters became chief executive of Victoria’s Secret & Co. much later, after the company separated from L Brands in 2021.
