Robert Pattinson reprises the role of Edward Cullen in "Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1."

Released in 2011, the film is the fourth installment in The Twilight Saga and adapts the first half of Stephenie Meyer’s 2008 novel Breaking Dawn. Edward is the vampire who marries Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, before the couple’s honeymoon leads to Bella’s dangerous pregnancy.

Pattinson had played Edward in the earlier films Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, so “reprises” is especially precise: he was returning to an established role rather than portraying a new character. Taylor Lautner also returned as Jacob Black, creating the central supernatural love triangle around Bella.

A common mix-up is confusing the actor with the character: Robert Pattinson is the performer, while Edward Cullen is the fictional vampire. The story concludes in the second film, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, released in 2012.
