Who provided the voice of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the first Assassin's Creed game?

The story behind the answer

Philip Shahbaz provided the voice of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in the first Assassin's Creed game.

Altaïr is the central historical character in the 2007 game, and Shahbaz performed his English voice. The character is a Syrian-born Assassin operating during the Third Crusade, while Desmond Miles experiences Altaïr's memories through the Animus in the modern-day storyline.

The performance is sometimes confused with later versions of Altaïr or with other major Assassin's Creed voice actors. Roger Craig Smith voiced Ezio Auditore in the English versions of the Ezio games, while Noah Watts voiced Ratonhnhaké:ton in Assassin's Creed III. Michael Fassbender played a separate character, Aguilar de Nerha, in the 2016 live-action film.

Altaïr's name is also commonly written with different transliterations, including Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. The voice credit remains tied to the original game's English-language cast, not to the later film or to another protagonist in the franchise.
