Who presented the first two series of the British television show Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Adrian Chiles presented the first two series of the British television show Dragon's Den.

Chiles was the programme’s original presenter when the BBC launched the British adaptation in 2005. He introduced the pitch setting, guided viewers through the entrepreneurs’ proposals and provided context around the deals being discussed by the investors.

Evan Davis later became the presenter most closely associated with the programme for many viewers, but he did not host the first two series. This creates a frequent mix-up when people remember the show’s long-running presentation rather than its launch period. Davis took over after the opening seasons and became a prominent voice of the format.

The presenter’s role differs from that of the Dragons. The presenter does not normally decide whether to invest; instead, the host frames the pitch and explains what happens around the studio negotiation. Chiles’s early involvement is therefore a specific part of the show’s broadcast history, separate from the changing investor panel.
