Who presented the first series of BBC's Dragon's Den before Evan Davis became presenter?

The story behind the answer

Adrian Woolfe presented the first series of BBC's Dragon's Den before Evan Davis became presenter.

Woolfe hosted the programme's debut series in 2005. Evan Davis then took over presenting duties and became the familiar on-screen guide who introduced entrepreneurs, explained the investment process and interviewed participants outside the pitch room.

The presenter does not act as one of the investors. The dragons make the offers, ask questions and decide whether to invest, while the presenter provides continuity for viewers and explains what happens around the pitches.

The early presenting change is easy to miss because Davis became strongly associated with the programme over many series. Adrian Woolfe nevertheless appears in the documented history of the British version as its original presenter, making him distinct from later hosts and guest presenters.
