Evan Davis presented the BBC television show Dragons' Den from its launch in 2005 until 2013.
Davis is a British economist, journalist and broadcaster who became the original presenter of the UK version of Dragons' Den. His role was to introduce entrepreneurs, explain the businesses being pitched and guide viewers through the negotiations with the investors.
He presented the programme for its first ten series. In 2013, BBC Radio 4 broadcaster and journalist Nick Hewer replaced him as presenter. Hewer later handed the role to other presenters, including comedian and broadcaster Sara Davies in a different presenting context on BBC business television.
Davis is sometimes confused with the Dragons themselves because he was a highly visible part of the programme from the beginning. However, he was the host, not one of the investors. He also became well known for presenting Radio 4's Today programme and BBC Two's Newsnight.
