Evan Davis presented the BBC television programme Dragon's Den from its launch in 2005 until 2015.
Davis was the programme's original presenter and appeared alongside the changing groups of entrepreneurs and investors known as Dragons. His role included introducing the businesses, explaining the investment pitches and guiding viewers through negotiations.
He was already well known to BBC audiences as a journalist and presenter, particularly through his work on economic and political programmes. Davis left Dragon's Den after its thirteenth series, and the presenting role later passed to other broadcasters.
A common mix-up is confusing the presenter with the investors. Davis was not a Dragon: he did not provide investment, make offers or take equity in the businesses. The Dragons sat on the panel, while Davis acted as the programme's host and narrator.
