Evan Davis presented BBC Two's Dragons' Den from its launch until 2013.
Davis is a British economist, journalist and broadcaster who became familiar to television audiences through business and current-affairs programmes. His calm interviewing style suited the show's format, in which entrepreneurs present business proposals to investors and answer rapid questions about sales, costs and ownership.
He hosted the programme during its formative years, when the panel included investors such as Peter Jones, Deborah Meaden, Theo Paphitis and Duncan Bannatyne. Davis was later succeeded by journalist and broadcaster Nick Hewer, while the show continued with changing Dragon line-ups.
A common mix-up is to identify Davis as one of the investors. He was the presenter, not a Dragon. His work on Dragons' Den is separate from his later role presenting the BBC current-affairs programme Newsnight.
