Evan Davis presented the BBC business programme Dragon's Den from its first series in 2005 until 2012.
Davis was the programme's original presenter when the British version launched on BBC Two. His role was to introduce entrepreneurs, explain the pitch process and move the discussion between the business founders and the investors known as Dragons.
He left Dragon's Den after its tenth series. Davis later became best known for presenting the BBC current-affairs programme Newsnight, taking over as its main presenter in 2014. He has also hosted business and economics programmes, making his background particularly suited to a show about investment.
A common mix-up is confusing the presenter with the investors. Davis did not sit in the investment panel; he acted as the host and interviewer. The presenter after him was Nick Hewer, who hosted the programme before Sarah Davies took over in 2013.
