Evan Davis presented BBC's Dragons' Den from the programme's launch in 2005 until 2012.
Davis, an economist and broadcaster, became the show's first presenter when the British version began on BBC Two. His role was to introduce each entrepreneur, explain the pitch setup and guide viewers through the Dragons' questions and offers.
He remained associated with the programme for its first several series before leaving in 2012. The presenting role later passed to broadcasters including Nick Hewer and, subsequently, Evan Davis's successor, Richard Osman for some related programming; the core format, however, stayed centred on entrepreneurs seeking investment from the panel.
Davis is sometimes confused with a Dragon because he was a highly visible part of the programme, but he did not sit on the investment panel. The Dragons made the investment decisions, while the presenter managed the studio proceedings and linked the separate pitches.
