Who plays the character Homelander?

Antony Starr plays Homelander in the television series The Boys.

Starr is a New Zealand actor who was born in Wellington in 1975. Before gaining international recognition, he played dual roles in the New Zealand series Outrageous Fortune and later led the action drama Banshee as Lucas Hood. His casting as Homelander gave him his most widely known role.

Homelander is the public face and leader of the superhero team the Seven, but beneath the patriotic image he is narcissistic, violent, and deeply insecure. Starr’s performance is built around that contrast: controlled smiles and polished speeches conceal sudden cruelty and a desperate need for approval. The role has been praised for combining menace, dark comedy, and emotional instability.

A common mix-up is confusing the actor with other major cast members. Jensen Ackles plays Soldier Boy, Jack Quaid plays Hughie Campbell, and Karl Urban plays Billy Butcher. Starr’s Homelander also appears in related franchise projects, including the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
