Who plays the Architect in The Matrix Reloaded?

The story behind the answer

Helmut Bakaitis plays the Architect in The Matrix Reloaded.

The Architect is the program who claims to have designed the Matrix. Neo meets him near the end of Reloaded, where the Architect explains that the simulation has gone through multiple versions and that the anomaly represented by the One is part of the system’s recurring design.

Bakaitis’s performance is deliberately formal and restrained, contrasting with the more emotional human characters. The Architect’s rapid, analytical speech and multiple television images emphasize his role as a calculating program rather than a conventional human villain.

Bakaitis returned as the Architect in The Matrix Revolutions. A frequent confusion comes from mixing up actors in the wider sequel cast: Harry Lennix plays Commander Lock, Bruce Spence plays the Trainman, and Lambert Wilson plays the Merovingian. None of those actors portrays the Architect.
