Who plays Detective Dominick 'Sonny' Carisi Jr.?

“Who plays Detective Dominick ‘Sonny’ Carisi Jr.?” — The answer is Peter Scanavino. He portrays Carisi in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where the character develops from an inexperienced detective into a prominent assistant district attorney.

Scanavino joined SVU during its sixteenth season in 2014. Carisi initially appeared in a recurring capacity as a new detective assigned to the Special Victims Unit, bringing an outspoken, sometimes blunt personality to the squad. He was promoted to the main cast early in that season.

The role later expanded beyond police work. Carisi became an assistant district attorney, allowing the series to follow cases from investigation through prosecution. Scanavino has continued playing the character across SVU and related Law & Order appearances.

One easy mix-up comes from Scanavino’s earlier SVU guest role. In the season 14 episode “Monster’s Legacy,” he played Johnny Dubcek, a different character, before returning as Carisi. The other options are actors associated with different SVU characters or storylines.
