Which SVU character was introduced as a junior detective in the season 13 premiere?
Answer
Amanda Rollins
Answer
Amanda Rollins
Amanda Rollins was introduced as a junior detective in the season 13 premiere of Law & Order: SVU.
Played by Kelli Giddish, Rollins first appears in “Scorched Earth” after transferring from the Atlanta Police Department to Manhattan’s Special Victims Unit. Her arrival helped fill the personnel gap created when Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler left the series after season 12.
Rollins was introduced alongside Danny Pino’s Nick Amaro, although Amaro does not appear until the following episode. The premiere establishes Rollins as eager, capable and especially impressed by Olivia Benson, while also beginning the character’s long-running storylines involving gambling, family conflict and professional ambition.
A common mix-up is confusing Rollins with Dani Beck, who was a temporary detective partnered with Benson during season 8. Rollins, by contrast, became a major recurring member of the SVU ensemble and remained with the series through season 24.
