Who played the Romulan villain Nero in Star Trek (2009)?
Answer
Eric Bana
Answer
Eric Bana
Eric Bana played the Romulan villain Nero in Star Trek (2009).
Nero is a mining-ship captain from the 24th century whose homeworld, Romulus, is destroyed by a supernova. He blames Ambassador Spock and pursues him into the past, creating the alternate reality in which the film takes place.
Bana, an Australian actor known for films including Black Hawk Down and Munich, performed Nero with extensive prosthetic makeup and a distinctive Romulan appearance. The production used makeup to emphasize Nero’s tattooed, battle-worn look.
A common mix-up is confusing Bana with Zachary Quinto, who played Spock, or Chris Pine, who played the alternate-timeline James Kirk. Nero is an original-film antagonist rather than a character from the earlier Star Trek movies or television series.
