Which Star Trek film was directed by Jonathan Frakes and released in 1996?

The story behind the answer

Star Trek: First Contact was directed by Jonathan Frakes and released in 1996.

Frakes played Commander William Riker in Star Trek: The Next Generation and carried that role into the film series. He directed the second Next Generation feature, Star Trek: First Contact, after also directing episodes of the television series. The film was released in November 1996.

Its story centers on the Borg, who travel back in time to assimilate Earth before humanity makes first contact with an extraterrestrial civilization. The Enterprise-E follows them to the past, where Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his crew try to protect the historical event.

First Contact is often confused with Star Trek: Generations, the first Next Generation film, or Star Trek: Insurrection, which Frakes also directed. Frakes directed both First Contact and Insurrection, but only First Contact was released in 1996.
