Who played Harry Potter in the eight-film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s series?

The story behind the answer

Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter in the eight-film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s series.

Radcliffe portrayed the character from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, released in 2001, through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, released in 2011. He was eleven when the first film was released and grew up publicly during the decade-long production.

The film series adapted seven novels into eight movies because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was divided into two parts. Radcliffe therefore played Harry across eight films rather than seven.

Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley and Emma Watson played Hermione Granger, Harry’s two closest friends. Tom Felton played Draco Malfoy, while Matthew Lewis played Neville Longbottom. The casting of Radcliffe, Grint, and Watson became one of the defining elements of the film franchise.
