Who played Captain John Harriman in Star Trek: Generations?
Answer
Alan Ruck
Answer
Alan Ruck
Alan Ruck played Captain John Harriman in Star Trek: Generations. Harriman commands the USS Enterprise-B during its maiden voyage, when the ship responds to a distress call involving refugees trapped in the Nexus.
The opening sequence transfers the story from the original cast to the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Kirk, Scotty, and Chekov attend the Enterprise-B’s launch, but an emergency forces Kirk to take temporary command while Harriman struggles with an untested ship and incomplete equipment.
Ruck was already widely known for playing Cameron Frye in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. In Star Trek: Generations, his performance presents Harriman as a younger captain learning under extraordinary pressure. The character is sometimes confused with Captain Jean-Luc Picard, who commands the later Enterprise-D portions of the film.
