Who led the music team that composed Mario Kart World’s soundtrack?

Atsuko Asahi led the music team that composed Mario Kart World’s soundtrack.

Asahi had also worked on the music for Mario Kart 8, released in 2014. For World, she was joined by Maasa Miyoshi, Takuhiro Honda, and Yutaro Takakuwa, creating a large score built around many rearranged themes from across the Mario franchise.

The soundtrack was designed to respond smoothly to the game’s connected structure. Course themes use introductions and endings that can transition into one another, particularly during Knockout Tour, where players race continuously through multiple environments.

The composer’s name can be confused with Kosuke Yabuki, who was the game’s series producer, or Masaaki Ishikawa, its art director. Both were major members of the development team, but Asahi led the music team.
