Who is the showrunner of The Boys?

The story behind the answer

Eric Kripke is the showrunner of The Boys.

Kripke oversees the television series’ creative direction, serving as its showrunner, head writer, developer, and executive producer. He was hired after the project moved from a troubled film-development period into television, helping reshape Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic into a serialized Amazon Prime Video drama.

Before The Boys, Kripke was best known for creating Supernatural and serving as that series’ showrunner during its first five seasons. His work on The Boys retains his interest in supernatural and genre storytelling, but combines it with political satire, corporate criticism, celebrity culture, and deliberately extreme black comedy.

The answer is sometimes confused because Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are also prominent producers on the series, while Garth Ennis is the co-creator of the original comic. Neither is the television showrunner. Kripke’s role is distinct from those executive-producer and source-material credits: he is the principal creative leader of the television adaptation.
