Who is the second-in-command of the Whisperers?

Beta is the second-in-command of the Whisperers and serves as Alpha’s right-hand man in The Walking Dead.

The Whisperers are a survivor group that disguises itself with walker skin, allowing members to move among the undead without immediately attracting attacks. Alpha leads the group, while Beta acts as her enforcer, tracker, and chief military lieutenant. His imposing size and extreme loyalty make him one of the Whisperers’ most dangerous members.

Beta is introduced in season 9 and repeatedly carries out Alpha’s orders, including hunting Lydia and directing attacks against the communities. Gamma is a high-ranking Whisperer but not Alpha’s deputy, and Lydia is Alpha’s daughter rather than the group’s second-in-command. Alpha is the leader herself, so she cannot be the answer to this question.

After Alpha’s death, Beta refuses to simply take her title at first, but he eventually leads the remaining Whisperers and their walker herd. In the television series, Daryl ultimately defeats him during the season 10 finale, “A Certain Doom.”
