Who is the protagonist of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood?

Ezio Auditore da Firenze is the protagonist of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Brotherhood continues Ezio's story after Assassin's Creed II and moves much of the action to Rome. Ezio works to weaken the Borgia family's control of the city and rebuild the Assassin Brotherhood there. The game combines his personal conflict with a wider effort to restore the order's influence in Italy.

A major feature is the ability to recruit and train new Assassins. Ezio can call these allies during missions, making the Brotherhood itself an important gameplay system rather than just background lore. The game also expands the modern-day storyline through Desmond Miles and his companions.

Although the title emphasizes the Brotherhood, Ezio remains the single playable historical protagonist. Altaïr appears in other parts of the franchise, while Cesare Borgia serves as a major antagonist in Brotherhood. Ezio's Roman campaign directly leads into the events later explored in Assassin's Creed: Revelations.
