Who is the playable heroine of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation?

The story behind the answer

Aveline de Grandpré is the playable heroine of Assassin's Creed III: Liberation.

Aveline is a French-African Assassin active in eighteenth-century New Orleans and Louisiana. The game follows her work against Templar influence while she navigates the social and political pressures of the colonial Gulf Coast.

Liberation was originally released for the PlayStation Vita in 2012. It later appeared in remastered form for other platforms. Aveline's story runs parallel to the period covered by Assassin's Creed III, but she is a distinct protagonist with her own setting and missions.

A notable gameplay feature lets Aveline change outfits for different social roles. Her Assassin, Lady, and slave disguises affect access, suspicion, and available actions. The character was voiced by actress Amber Lee Connors in the remastered release, while Liberation expanded the series' representation of historical protagonists.
