Who is the original host of the reality show "The Bachelor"?

Chris Harrison was the original host of the reality dating show The Bachelor.

Harrison hosted the American version of The Bachelor from its premiere in 2002 until 2021. As host, he introduced each season’s Bachelor, guided rose ceremonies, handled transitions between dates and eliminations, and became closely associated with the franchise’s signature phrase about “the most dramatic” developments in its history.

He also hosted related programs, including The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, making him one of the defining on-screen figures in the wider Bachelor franchise. His role was more than that of a conventional announcer: he often served as the contestants’ intermediary, offering private conversations and explaining the rules or emotional stakes of the competition.

Harrison left the franchise in 2021. Afterward, the hosting duties were shared or reassigned among other television personalities, including Jesse Palmer for The Bachelor. That later change can create confusion about the answer, but the question asks for the original host, making Chris Harrison the canonical response.
