Who is the main Pokémon researcher Ditto meets in Pokémon Pokopia?

The main researcher Ditto meets in Pokémon Pokopia is Professor Tangrowth.

After awakening in the Withered Wasteland, Ditto encounters a Tangrowth who has taken on the name Professor Tangrowth. He is the only remaining resident in the opening wasteland and has devoted himself to studying what happened to the environment and the vanished humans and Pokémon.

Professor Tangrowth gives the story an investigative thread. The player is not simply decorating an empty island; Ditto and Tangrowth work together to understand the disasters and find ways to make the land habitable again.

The character can be confused with one of the human professors who introduce players to Pokémon in the main series. Professor Tangrowth is different: he is a Pokémon researcher in a post-human world, and his name reflects the species he belongs to.
