Shujinko is the main playable protagonist of Mortal Kombat: Deception’s Konquest mode.
Konquest follows Shujinko across much of his life as he travels through the realms and learns fighting techniques from numerous warriors. His journey is central to Deception’s story and provides the game’s adventure-style single-player campaign.
Shujinko is manipulated by Onaga, the Dragon King, who presents himself through the deceptive figure known as Damashi. Shujinko’s willingness to pursue the Kamidogu ultimately helps Onaga return to power, making the character both the campaign’s hero and a key cause of its crisis.
Shujinko is distinct from Taven, who stars in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon’s Konquest mode. He is also not the same kind of protagonist as Liu Kang, whose role is central to several mainline story arcs but not Deception’s Konquest campaign.
