Who is the main playable protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Unity?

The story behind the answer

Arno Dorian is the main playable protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Released in 2014, Unity follows Arno during the French Revolution. He becomes an Assassin after personal loss and operates in Paris, where the game recreates landmarks, streets, political upheaval, and social conflict from the late eighteenth century.

Arno was raised by François de la Serre, a Templar grand master, which gives the story a personal connection to both sides of the franchise’s central conflict. Élise de la Serre, François’s daughter, is an important supporting character and a Templar, but she is not Unity’s principal playable character.

Unity also introduced cooperative multiplayer missions for up to four players. It is distinct from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which followed Jacob and Evie Frye in Victorian London. The word “Unity” refers to the game’s title, not to a separate protagonist or historical faction.
