Who is the main playable protagonist of Assassin's Creed II?

Ezio Auditore is the main playable protagonist of Assassin's Creed II.

Born in Florence in 1459, Ezio becomes involved with the Assassin Brotherhood after his family is executed as part of a political conspiracy. His story unfolds across Renaissance Italy, including Florence, Venice, Forlì, and San Gimignano.

Assassin's Creed II was released in 2009 and expanded the original game's systems with activities such as property management, swimming, economic upgrades, and a broader weapon selection. Leonardo da Vinci appears as an important ally and helps Ezio understand and use several pieces of technology.

Ezio's story continues in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Because Altaïr appears in the first game and Connor stars in Assassin's Creed III, those names are common mix-ups, but neither is the central protagonist of Assassin's Creed II.
