What is the name of Assassin’s Creed’s first mainline game set primarily in London?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is the first mainline Assassin’s Creed game set primarily in London.

Syndicate takes place in London in 1868, near the end of the Industrial Revolution. The Frye twins, Jacob and Evie, arrive in the city and work to undermine Templar influence while confronting industrial exploitation, criminal gangs and political power. The setting includes districts such as Westminster, the City of London, Southwark and Lambeth.

Earlier Assassin’s Creed games visited Britain or included British locations in other ways, but Syndicate made Victorian London the central open-world setting of a mainline release. Its design emphasizes crowded streets, railways, carriages and factories, reflecting the city’s industrial transformation.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is set mainly in Paris during the French Revolution, while Revelations is centered on Constantinople. Assassin’s Creed III includes colonial cities such as Boston and New York, but it does not make London its principal playable city. Syndicate was released in 2015.
