What is the name of the modern-day corporation that controls the Animus technology in Assassin’s Creed?

Abstergo Industries is the modern-day corporation that controls the Animus technology in Assassin’s Creed. It presents itself as a multinational company involved in pharmaceuticals, entertainment, and technology, while secretly serving the modern Templar Order.

The corporation uses Animus systems to access genetic memories stored in a person’s DNA. This allows users to experience ancestral lives, although the memories are reconstructed through a technological interface rather than literally transported into the past. Abstergo’s research gives the Templars information about Assassins, historical artifacts, and Pieces of Eden.

Abstergo is not the name of the machine; the machine is called the Animus. The company also created entertainment-oriented Animus products in later storylines, making the corporation’s public image part of its strategy to shape how history is experienced and understood.
