Who is the main playable character in Assassin’s Creed Unity?

Arno Dorian is the main playable character in Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Arno is a French Assassin whose story unfolds during the French Revolution. The game begins in the years before the Revolution and then moves into the turmoil of late-eighteenth-century Paris, where political upheaval and the Assassin–Templar conflict overlap.

His personal story is connected to Élise de la Serre, a Templar and the daughter of the man who raised Arno. Their relationship gives the campaign a distinctive personal dimension, but Élise is not the game’s main playable character.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is also notable for cooperative missions that allow multiple players to control Assassin characters. That multiplayer feature can make the cast seem broader, yet Arno remains the central protagonist of the single-player narrative.
