Ezio Auditore da Firenze is the main playable character in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

The 2010 game continues Ezio's story after Assassin's Creed II. He travels to Rome, where the Borgia family controls much of the city under Cesare Borgia and Pope Alexander VI. Ezio works to rebuild the Assassin Brotherhood and weaken Borgia power across Rome.

Brotherhood is the second major game centered on Ezio, following Assassin's Creed II and preceding Assassin's Creed Revelations. It also introduced a recruitable Assassin system, allowing players to enlist, train, and deploy members of the Brotherhood.

Players sometimes confuse Brotherhood's protagonist with Altaïr, who appears in the wider series and in a short playable sequence in Revelations. Connor Kenway belongs to Assassin's Creed III, while Edward Kenway leads Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
