Who is the main historical protagonist of Assassin's Creed Origins?

The story behind the answer

Bayek of Siwa is the main historical protagonist of Assassin's Creed Origins. He is a Medjay whose investigation into a series of murders leads to the origins of the Assassin Brotherhood.

The game is set in Ptolemaic Egypt, beginning in 49 BCE during the reign of Cleopatra VII. Bayek and his wife Aya become involved in a conflict with the Order of the Ancients, a predecessor of the Templars. The story visits Alexandria, Memphis, Cyrene, and other Egyptian regions.

Origins was released in 2017 and introduced a stronger role-playing structure to the main series, including levels, loot, and ability trees. Aya is an important playable character, but Bayek is the principal protagonist. His epithet, “of Siwa,” refers to his hometown and distinguishes him from the city of Alexandria.
