Who is the main detective in J.K. Rowling’s novels published as Robert Galbraith?

Cormoran Strike is the main detective in J.K. Rowling’s novels published as Robert Galbraith.

Strike is a former Special Investigation Branch investigator who becomes a private detective in London. He is introduced in The Cuckoo’s Calling, where he investigates the death of model Lula Landry. The series combines traditional crime investigation with a continuing relationship between Strike and his assistant, Robin Ellacott.

Strike’s military background is important to the character: he lost part of one leg while serving in Afghanistan. That detail distinguishes him from many fictional private detectives and shapes both his mobility and his working methods. The novels are separate from Rowling’s fantasy writing and are written in a modern crime-fiction style.
