Who is the historical protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla?

The story behind the answer

Eivor is the historical protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Valhalla, released in 2020, follows Eivor Varinsdottir, a Viking raider who leads a Norse clan from Norway to England. Eivor establishes a settlement and becomes involved in conflicts among Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, Viking groups, and the Hidden Ones.

The player can choose a male or female presentation for Eivor, but both versions use the same character identity and name. This differs from games with separate selectable protagonists, such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, where Kassandra and Alexios are alternative playable characters.

Eivor is not the same person as Basim, although Basim is a major character in Valhalla’s story. The game also connects its Viking narrative to the Isu and to the wider modern-day storyline through the Animus.
