Who is the first playable protagonist in Assassin's Creed Origins?

The story behind the answer

Bayek of Siwa is the first playable protagonist in Assassin's Creed Origins. He is a Medjay, an ancient Egyptian protector and lawkeeper, whose investigation begins after a personal tragedy involving masked figures.

The story is set mainly in Ptolemaic Egypt during the first century BCE. Bayek travels through regions including Siwa, Alexandria, Memphis, and Cyrene while uncovering the organization that becomes the Order of the Ancients.

Aya, Bayek's wife, is also a major playable character and an important founder of the Hidden Ones. However, the game opens with Bayek and presents him as its primary protagonist.

Origins was released in 2017 and changed the series by adding role-playing systems, levels, loot, and a much larger wilderness. It functions as an origin story for the Assassin Brotherhood rather than depicting the later order by its familiar name.
