Assassin's Creed Unity is primarily set during which major historical upheaval?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Unity is primarily set during the French Revolution.

The game begins in 1789 and follows Arno Dorian, an Assassin operating in Paris. Its story unfolds as the revolution transforms French political and social life, with events including the fall of the Bastille, the rise of revolutionary factions, and the Reign of Terror. Paris is the main open-world setting.

Arno is drawn into the Assassin-Templar conflict after the murder of his adoptive father, François de la Serre, who is a Templar Grand Master. Arno's personal connection to Élise de la Serre gives the story a close link between the two rival organizations. The game also features cooperative missions for up to four players.

Unity is sometimes mistaken for Assassin's Creed Syndicate because both games are set in France or Britain during periods of major change. Syndicate takes place in Victorian London during the Industrial Revolution. Unity was released in 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
