In Assassin's Creed Origins, which Egyptian character is the game's main playable protagonist?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Origins has Bayek of Siwa as its main playable protagonist.

Bayek is a Medjay, a traditional protector and law officer in ancient Egypt. The story follows his search for those connected to the murder of his son, Khemu. His investigation gradually develops into the foundation of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later becomes the Assassin Brotherhood.

Origins is set during the final period of the Ptolemaic Kingdom, when Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII compete for power. Bayek's wife, Aya, is also a major character and an important participant in the creation of the Hidden Ones. Players control Bayek for most historical sequences, while some story moments feature Aya.

Senu, Bayek's eagle, is an animal companion rather than the protagonist. Origins also introduced a broader role-playing structure and bird-based reconnaissance to the series.
