Who is the CEO of Amazon?

Andy Jassy is the CEO of Amazon.

Jassy joined Amazon in 1997 and became one of the company’s most important technology leaders. He founded Amazon Web Services, commonly called AWS, and led it as the cloud division grew into a major business serving companies, governments, and developers worldwide.

In February 2021, Amazon announced that Jassy would succeed founder Jeff Bezos as chief executive. He took over on July 5, 2021, the same date Amazon was incorporated in 1994. Bezos remained involved as Amazon’s executive chair, which is why some quizzes or headlines may still associate him closely with the company.

A common mix-up is confusing Amazon’s corporate CEO with the leaders of major divisions such as AWS. Jassy previously headed AWS, but his current role is broader: he leads Amazon as a whole, including retail, advertising, devices, entertainment, logistics, and cloud computing.
