Who is the CEO of Alphabet (Google)?
Answer
Sundar Pichai
Answer
Sundar Pichai
Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Alphabet, Google’s parent company.
Pichai joined Google in 2004 and became known for overseeing important products including Google Chrome. He later led Google’s product and engineering operations before being appointed Google’s CEO in 2015, succeeding co-founder Larry Page in that role.
Alphabet was created in 2015 as a holding company to organize Google and several other businesses, known as “Other Bets.” For several years, Page served as Alphabet’s CEO while Pichai led Google. In December 2019, Pichai became Alphabet’s CEO as well as continuing to lead Google, bringing the two top executive roles together.
The common confusion is that Sergey Brin and Larry Page founded Google, but neither is the current CEO. Pichai is also not the founder of Google; he joined years after the company was established. His leadership has increasingly emphasized artificial intelligence across Google and Alphabet’s products.
