Who is the captain of the Florida Panthers in 2018-19?
Answer
Aleksander Barkov
Answer
Aleksander Barkov
Aleksander Barkov was the captain of the Florida Panthers in the 2018–19 season. The Finnish center became the franchise’s tenth captain when Florida appointed him in September 2018, before the season began.
Barkov had already established himself as one of the Panthers’ core players. Florida selected him second overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and he became known for his responsible two-way play, faceoff ability, passing, and leadership. At the time of his captaincy, he was one of the youngest players to hold the role in franchise history.
A useful distinction is between captain and alternate captain. Jonathan Huberdeau, Keith Yandle, Aaron Ekblad, and Vincent Trocheck served among Florida’s alternate captains during that season, but Barkov wore the captain’s “C.” He finished 2018–19 with 96 points, including 35 goals and 61 assists, and won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy.
