Who is the canon protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?

Kassandra is the canon protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Odyssey allows players to choose Kassandra or Alexios as the playable mercenary, but the official novelization identifies Kassandra as the canonical bearer of the story. The game follows this Spartan-descended hero during the Peloponnesian War in fifth-century BCE Greece.

Kassandra travels across a large Aegean world and becomes involved with the Cult of Kosmos, a powerful secret organization connected to the game’s family conflict. Her story also links the ancient Greek setting to the wider series through the Spear of Leonidas and Isu-related lore.

Alexios is therefore a valid player choice, but he is not the canon protagonist in the published version of the narrative. This distinction explains why both names are commonly associated with Odyssey while only one is used for canonical continuity.
