Who is Pokémon Pokopia’s environmental researcher and Ditto’s companion?

Professor Tangrowth is Pokémon Pokopia’s environmental researcher and Ditto’s companion. The character is a Tangrowth who studies the damaged world and seeks to understand why humans and Pokémon disappeared.

After Ditto reaches the abandoned region, it encounters Professor Tangrowth and joins the effort to restore habitats. Together they investigate the environment while helping Pokémon recover from the consequences of the world’s collapse.

Professor Tangrowth is not one of the human professors who appear in the main Pokémon games. The title deliberately gives a Pokémon a scholarly role, creating a playful variation on the series tradition of Professor Oak, Professor Elm, and other human researchers. Tangrowth’s name combines the familiar species name with the academic title, making the character’s identity both direct and distinctive.
