Who invented the Tangle Teezer hairbrush featured on the British TV programme Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Shaun Pulfrey invented the Tangle Teezer hairbrush featured on the British TV programme Dragon's Den.

Pulfrey, a British hairdresser, developed the detangling brush after observing how conventional brushes could pull and damage hair. He originally worked on the product under the name Hairaisers before presenting it on Dragon's Den in 2007.

The distinctive idea was a flexible arrangement of teeth designed to move through tangled hair with less pulling. Although the television pitch did not produce a completed investment deal, the product later became a significant commercial success through direct development and retail distribution.

The story is a useful reminder that a Dragon's Den appearance does not always determine a product's future. Entrepreneurs can build successful companies after receiving no offer, rejecting an offer or failing to complete negotiations. Pulfrey's brush became the foundation of the Tangle Teezer brand.
