Shaun Pulfrey invented the Tangle Teezer and pitched it on the British television series Dragons' Den.
Pulfrey was a hairdresser and colourist who developed a brush designed to remove tangles without pulling hair in the same way as conventional brushes. He appeared on Dragons' Den seeking investment for the product, but the dragons did not make a deal.
The Tangle Teezer later became a widely sold hairbrush brand. Its success is often used as another example of a product that received no investment on the programme but found a large market afterward. The brand’s name refers to the problem it was designed to address rather than to the inventor’s name.
People sometimes mix up Pulfrey with Rob Law, the founder of Trunki, because both products became well-known after unsuccessful pitches. They are separate businesses, founded by different entrepreneurs and aimed at different everyday problems.
