Who hosted the Canadian TV series Dragons' Den from its launch in 2006?

The story behind the answer

Dianne Buckner hosted the Canadian TV series Dragons' Den from its launch in 2006.

Buckner is a Canadian television journalist and broadcaster who became the presenter of the Canadian adaptation of the investment-pitch format. Her role was to introduce entrepreneurs, explain the businesses being presented and guide the studio proceedings while the Dragons questioned the pitchers.

The Canadian programme uses the same broad premise as the British series, but it has its own presenters, investors and production history. Arlene Dickinson and Kevin O'Leary are associated with the Canadian panel, not with hosting the programme.

The Canadian version first aired in 2006. That date places it shortly after the British Dragon's Den began in 2005, while the wider format had already travelled internationally from its Japanese origins. Buckner's presenting role is distinct from the investor role performed by the Dragons.
