Who holds the women’s pole-vault world record at 5.06 metres?
Answer
Yelena Isinbayeva
Answer
Yelena Isinbayeva
Yelena Isinbayeva holds the women’s pole-vault world record at 5.06 metres.
The Russian athlete cleared 5.06 metres in Zürich on 28 August 2009. The mark remains the outdoor women’s world record and is one of the defining performances in the event’s history.
Isinbayeva became the first woman to clear five metres in pole vaulting, reaching that height in 2005. During her career, she repeatedly improved the world record, moving it beyond four metres and then beyond five.
She won Olympic gold at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, but did not clear a height in the London 2012 final. Pole-vault records can be listed separately for outdoor and indoor competitions, so references to the 5.06-metre mark mean the outdoor record.
