Who has presented the UK television series Dragon's Den since 2007?

The story behind the answer

Evan Davis has presented the UK television series Dragon's Den since 2007.

Davis is a British journalist, broadcaster and economist. He took over as presenter of Dragon's Den in 2007 and became the programme's familiar on-screen guide, introducing entrepreneurs and overseeing the exchanges between pitchers and investors.

His role differs from that of the Dragons themselves. Davis does not normally decide whether a business receives investment; instead, he provides narration, asks occasional clarifying questions and helps structure the episode. The investors make their own commercial judgments during the pitch and negotiation.

Davis is also strongly associated with BBC news and current-affairs broadcasting. He presented the BBC Radio 4 programme Today and later became the presenter of Newsnight. Because the programme's investors have changed repeatedly, viewers sometimes remember a Dragon more readily than the presenter, but Davis has been the long-running host since 2007.
