Evan Davis has presented the British TV programme Dragon's Den since its first series in 2005.
Davis is a British economist, journalist and broadcaster. Before joining the programme, he was well known for presenting business and economics coverage for the BBC, including Newsnight and The Bottom Line. His role on Dragon's Den is to introduce the entrepreneurs, explain their proposals and guide the negotiations.
The presenter is separate from the Dragons, who are the business investors sitting on the panel. This distinction can cause confusion because Davis regularly questions contestants about sales, valuation and margins, but he does not invest his own money in the pitches.
The British format began in 2005 and was adapted from the Japanese programme Money Tigers. Davis has remained the programme's principal presenter across its long run, while the investor panel has changed repeatedly over the years.
